After using 7 packs of sugru and a tablet cover, I have managed to mount this Nvidia Shield tablet to my dash. And yes, my HVAC controls are blocked, but now I can use Waze/Here Maps/Google Maps in a much more safe manner.

What is sugru and why do you use it.

It cures to a hard rubber and unless I start 3D printing, I don’t have other ways to mount it

Nah.

So this is permemant?

No. This currently looks like shit because there is saran wrap on the tablet corners so the Sugru doesn’t bond to the table itself....and I am going to layer a bit on the things on the corners so it looks better.

So... How are you gonna use the heater, defroster, and fan control now when you need them?

Defroster I’m good, control is up top. With a bit of difficulty...tucking my hand under the tablet and reaching for controls.

Just get a double din kit, and a pioneer 4100 or 4200 nex. Android auto, which uses google maps, soon waze, and has great access to your music, contacts, and so forth.
